Ultimate Packing Guide

Dec 30, 2024

Packing your items properly is key to saving on shipping costs and ensuring your package arrives safely. At HaeTek, we have created the Ultimate Packing Guide to help you minimize expenses, optimize space, and secure your shipment like a pro. Follow these simple steps to make shipping stress-free and affordable!

1️⃣ CHOOSE A SUITABLE BOX

Choosing the right box is important and has a big impact on the shipping price. There are various shapes, sizes and strengths of boxes, so it can be challenging to choose the right one. We highly recommend you to use a strong double-walled cardboard box with a thickness of 5-8 mm to ensure a steady and quality packaging of your belongings. This box is durable and is best suited for international shipment.

DO NOT USE
Single-walled/weak/broken/damaged box, Backpack, Suitcase, Duffel bag, Plastic storage box, Laundry bag, Plastic bag or other types of bags. They are not suitable for international shipment and can easily break, get damaged or spill out your items. This will delay your shipment significantly.

⚠️ IMPORTANT
The shipping price is based on volumetric weight (the volume of the box) and actual weight (total weight of the box). Whichever is greater is considered.

2️⃣ CHECK THE PROHIBITED ITEMS LIST

Before packing your box, please read our Prohibited Items List to avoid legal and shipping issues. These prohibited items are strictly forbidden to be included in any shipment when using HaeTek’s service due to laws and regulations.

🚫 Common Prohibited Items:
Perfume, Deodorant, Nail Polish / Vanish, Battery & Money (Any type of currency).

Packing prohibited items can result in confiscation, fines, or delays, so always double-check before sealing your box!

3️⃣ PROTECT YOUR ITEMS

A proper internal packaging lower the risk of damaging your items. Use the following materials for added protection:

  • Wrap each individual item in bubble wrap, foam wrap, air column/bag, peanuts/pallets, corrugated inserts, Styrofoam, honeycomb paper wrap, newspaper, textile, etc. to ensure that your items are well protected,
spread out in the box and to minimize void fill.

  • Make sure that the items are not moving around inside the box.

  • Use dividers to prevent items from crushing each other.

  • Put water-sensitive items and items that can leak in sealed plastic bags.

  • Always pack the heavy items first and then the lighter items to prevent crushing.

  • Do not over-pack the box with your items. Check how much your specific
box can safely hold to avoid the box breaking or damaging your items.

4️⃣ SECURE YOUR BOX

When the packing is completed, use plenty of packing tape all over the box. We recommend the H-Taping method. There should be no gaps in the box. Do not use stationary adhesive tape, rope or strings.

5️⃣ WRITE YOUR BOOKING NUMBER ON THE BOX

When the box is packed and secured, write your booking number clearly on the box. Remove all previous labels from the box to avoid confusion.

⚠️ IMPORTANT
To ensure timely processing and shipping, please make sure your booking number is clearly visible on the box. If the booking number is missing or hard to read, it may result in processing delays and could delay your shipment. Please note that HaeTek cannot be held responsible for any delays or loss resulting from this issue.

6️⃣ ATTACH SPECIAL LABELS

Depending on the content, there are special handling labels that you can attach on the box. These special handling labels have different meanings and indicate how the box should be handled during transportation to ensure a safe and proper handling of the parcel. Make sure to attach these labels so they are clearly visible.

ℹ️ INFORMATION

Please note that you are responsible to ensure that your shipment has sufficient packaging (internal & external) to protect the content from damage during transit. Proper preparation prevents delays, damages, and added costs.
